We have been part of the Greece, NY community for over 25 years.  Vasilios Tegas, "Bill", is the chef and owner of the diner, with a long-time history in the restaurant industry.  Bill came to Rochester, NY with his family, parents Stylianos and Margarita, and brothers Micheal and Ioannis (John) in 1968 when he was just 3 years old.  They came from a small village called Drosopigi in the mountains of North Greece, Europe, near the town of Florina.  Brought to America by "Uncle Danny and Aunt Mary", Bill's father Stylianos worked hard in family restaurants and then opened his own in Webster, NY - Golden Boys Family Restaurant, now owned by cousins the Liapis family.  Bill worked at Golden Boys from a very young age, developing an interest in cooking.  He attended Johnson & Wales University culinary school and came back to Rochester as a chef and worked as the head chef at East Ridge Family Restaurant.  Bill and his brother John set out to open their own restaurant, and in 1997 opened Long Pond Family Restaurant, serving the Greece community for 25 years.

Our menu is full of traditional diner fare and comfort foods, along with daily breakfast and lunch specials.  You will occasionally see a few Greek specialties and we have a famous Friday fish fry, offering broiled, breaded, and beer-battered fish.  Bill is known for his exceptional dinner specials, including lamb shanks, corned beef & cabbage, mac 'n cheese,  as well as his made-from-scratch daily soups, such as chicken cabbage, split pea, and red and white clam chowders.  Bill is also an excellent baker, making freshly-made desserts every day, including rice pudding, old-fashioned custard pie, bread pudding, and a variety of creative pies, including cheesecake pies and chocolate peanut butter mousse pie.

In 2023, Bill opened up Bill's Long Pond Diner in the same location when his brother John retired from the restaurant business.  We hired the same loyal employees who have been with us for many years.  We are grateful to our long-time customers, who continue to bring their families and friends to dine with us.  We especially love seeing the new generation of kids come in.
